About the Child & Dependent Care Credit
Who Qualifies?
- Children under age 13 who live with you for more than half the year
- Disabled dependents of any age who cannot care for themselves
- Your disabled spouse who cannot care for themselves
Qualifying Expenses Include:
- Daycare center fees
- Babysitter or nanny costs
- After-school programs
- Summer day camps (not overnight camps)
- Adult day care for disabled dependents
Important Limits:
- Maximum $3,000 in expenses for one dependent
- Maximum $6,000 in expenses for two or more dependents
- Credit percentage ranges from 20% to 35% based on income
- Expenses cannot exceed your earned income (or your spouse's if less)
