Cost-Sharing Reduction (CSR) Calculator 2026

Find out if you qualify for lower deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket maximums on ACA Silver plans in 2026.

What Are Cost-Sharing Reductions?

Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSRs) are ACA subsidies that lower your deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket maximums — not your monthly premium. They're available to people earning 100–250% of the Federal Poverty Level who enroll in a Silver plan through the marketplace. CSRs are applied automatically — no separate application needed.

Key Facts About Cost-Sharing Reductions

Silver plans only: CSRs are only available on Silver-tier marketplace plans. If you pick Bronze, Gold, or Platinum, you won't receive CSR benefits — even if your income qualifies.

Automatic application: When you enroll in a Silver plan through HealthCare.gov or your state exchange, CSRs are applied automatically based on your reported income. There's no separate application.

CSR ≠ Premium Subsidy: CSRs reduce what you pay at the doctor (deductibles, copays, out-of-pocket max). Premium Tax Credits (APTC) reduce your monthly premium. You can receive both.

Why this matters: A 94% AV Silver plan with CSR can have a $75 deductible and $5 doctor visits. The same Silver plan without CSR might have a $5,000 deductible and $50 copays. Same plan, dramatically different costs.

Based on 2026 FPL guidelines. Actuarial value tiers and cost estimates are typical marketplace averages — actual plan costs vary by state, carrier, and plan design. This is for educational purposes only and is not tax, legal, or insurance advice. Verify your eligibility at HealthCare.gov.
